As the people of Okigwe Zone prepare to file out by may 2026 to select their preferred flag bearer ahead of the general elections being organized by Nigeria’s electoral umpire, it is obvious that prominent party members and chieftains in All progressive congress (APC) may have advised other aspirants warming up to context alongside the prodigious Ike Odoeme to throw in the towel but rather join other well meaning people of the zone to endorse and adopt a man whom everybody has considered as the best option to hoist the party’s flag ahead of the general election.
The call for unanimous support to this resourceful and ebullient son of Ihitte Uboma has gained tremendous attention in recent time. Odoeme has been looked upon by many as the only aspirant that can rescue the party and the zone from its present quagmire and hence return the zone to it’s true identity and democratic course .
In as much as there is there is compelling need for level playing ground for all the aspirants to test the acceptability and popularity at the primary election , we are very much aware that the power brokers and the entire party faithfuls are being very careful and guiding against the temptation of presenting halfbaked, incredible, ineligible and unpopular aspirant who do not have the interest of teeming Okigwe masses at heart.
However, independent public opinion pools conducted across the zone recently by media stakeholders, civil society groups and other key electoral observers proved that the whole odd favours Ike Odoeme. The opinion pool cut across all six local governments that make up the zone. The call for massive support to this vibrant and enterprising young man is seriously ringing into the ears of well meaning people of Okigwe, it cut across citizens from all works of life , traditional rulers, youths, women group, religious leaders and other political stake holders etc. Even individuals who are not from Okigwe zone has advised the people of the zone to hit the nail at the head without wasting time , They have been urged to come together as one so as to bless the candidacy of Ike Odoeme . This is not the time for unnecessary political intrigues but a clarion call to secure a better and promising future for numerous Okigwe children even those yet unborn. We must make sure that we don’t divide ourselves through unnecessary competition , blame games and deliberately setting the fish against the sea in order to prove our love and support for the Okigwe Senatorial project.
Every Okigwe man worth his name must support the quest for us to produce the next senator that will positively impact on the life’s and aspirations of our people . We must stay focused on the ball with eyes to score the winning goal. To do this, we must avoid distractions from within and outside. I must have to say without fear of contradictions that Odoeme is the best among those jostling to context the APC Okigwe zone senatorial primary by may this year. The weight of his endorsements underscores the heavy applaud and cheers that greeted his arrival at the state party office recently where all the APC political aspirants interfaced with the party executive members on the way forward and modalities for the primary election.
Supporters that accompened Hon Ike Odoeme at the state party office in owerri has described him as a leader of exceptional competence and capacity and they expressed full confidence in his ability to advance the zones development,they revealed that Odoemes track record both in his current role and through out his years of public service demonstrates the exact type of leadership Okigwe zone deserves.
This is now the time for us to roll up our sleeves because we have election to win and take our dear zone to the next level.Odoemes sure footed leadership prowess is exactly what Okigwe zone needs to reach greater height, Every tom, dick and Harry in the zone should rise up to the occasion and throw full support to Odoemes project. It is important to put Okigwe zone in the hand of someone who understands what is called governance and true leadership.
The people of okigwe are not expected to burn down their hurts in search of space.History and our ancestors will be unkind to every Okigwe man or woman,children or old who may want to sabotage this collective call to support this our illustrious son and goal getter whom everyone has seen as the messiah of our time.
Since he has expressed interest to run the senatorial seat under the platform of all progressive congress, APC stakeholders should work towards his endorsement as a consensus candidate and should not be distracted by empty promises by other candidates who do not posses the needed qualities for a more tasking job such as legislation.They should work in accordance to the the opinion pools that has placed Odoeme above board
There must be need for intra party democracy, cohesion ,unity of purpose and transparency and all these factors must tilt towards nominating the best candidate which Ike Odoeme represents.primary election is not a do or die affair but simply an expression of interest to serve the people or contribute to democratic governance.Those who may loose to our pragmatic and resourceful Ikenna Odoeme should be gracious in defeat.Those who knows Odoeme too well will testify that he is going to be magnanimous in victory if he eventually carries the day at the end of the primary election.Thr looser should support the winner so as to win the main election.They should not defect to other political party’s to work against the choosen candidate.
